"Villalobos creates lo-fi gusts of folk that tremble like gently spreading ripples on a moonlit lake" - Q Magazine

"Under the hazy acoustics and breathy vocals that come together effortlessly earning comparisons to Angel Olsen's" - The Line of Best Fit

"House of Wolves mysterious beauty and pure honesty is impossible to dislike" - No Fear Of Pop

Californian Rey Villalobos records under the name “House of Wolves” the literal translation of his family name from Spanish to English. A Los Angeles native, Villalobos’ family originates from two different sides of the globe - Mexico & Italy. Falling in love with the Chopin nocturnes was Villalobos’ first musical love. He began studying classical piano as a kid, then moved on to drums, and now composes most of his music on the guitar. The last few years Villalobos has spent much of his time touring Europe with his debut release on Fargo Records out of Paris France. Villalobos’ second record Daughter of the Sea was digitally released Irish label {Dusk Dais Dais} and limited edition vinyl on Microcultures. For his upcoming third album Villalobos’ reunited with producer John Morgan Askew where they recorded at Tucker Martine’s studio in Portland Oregon, this fall 2016 the album will be released as a limited edition VINYL & CD on discolexique records out of France. House of Wolves’ music is a singular voice with a unique sense of rhythm and a love of dark melancholic melodies.
