BEACHPEOPLE (DE)

Four years have passed since Malte Huck left AnnenMayKantereit as bassist. Four years is not a lot of time when measured in terms of a human life, but enough to make a fresh start. Huck realised that he needed this new beginning about a year earlier while travelling through the USA and Mexico. The EP ‘i'll be gone for a little while’ from 2022 was the first sign of life as BEACHPEOPLE and his idea of who he could be and how he wants to sound.
‘LEAVING THE BAND’, which will be released on October 18th, holds a lens to Malte's decision to leave a band and thus end a successful career, favouring a more grounded pursuit of freedom and self-determination. For the first time, he formulates in his own words what was previously just speculation and industry gossip and at the same time clears the way for himself.  ‘I STOPPED TO COUNT THE NUMBERS AND STARTED TO DREAM AGAIN.’ The process of finding your own voice and writing your own story is a gentle but perceptible leitmotif. Gentle, because Malte Huck has been making music for so long and has a firm grasp of how his music should sound. But for the first time alone, without a band as a safety net. Again and again the subject of addiction comes up, and with it the desire to get out, a numbness, a kind of inwardly-oriented wanderlust. It's about arriving and leaving, the emptiness in the metropolises, and the liberation on the paths in between.
