Born somewhere between Brussels and Paris last spring, Coup Dur brings together Clémence (bass, vocals), Avril (guitar, vocals), and César (drums). The trio draws a fragile yet electrifying line between the insolence of sixties girl bands and the lo-fi romanticism of late-70s/80s soft punk (think Squeeze or The Pastels). Their short, French-sung tracks deliberately embrace a kind of primitivism that highlights all the irony and naïveté in their lyrics.
