NAGHAMÄAT BOOM BOOM MAGHREB* SPECIAL
Naghamäat Boom Boom isn't just a club night—it's our take on a celebration of cultural diversity with this Magreb special night. Led by French-Moroccan electronic beats of Leïla Koumiya’s (MA/FR) DJ set and the nostalgic melodies of Raï and Chaâbi, reimagined by the soulful live set of Sami Galbi (MA/CH), this club night will be a fusion of tradition and innovation that triggers all senses and widely sparks the imagination.
Join us to bridge the gap between continents, unite our hearts and minds on the dance floor in a harmonious symphony of sound and rhythm and lose yourself in the magic of Maghreb music and vibes that you could not even imagine.
*Maghreb music refers to the musical traditions of the Maghreb region in North Africa, which includes countries such as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Mauritania. It encompasses a diverse range of styles and influences, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
LEÏLA KOUMIYA (MA/FR)
Leïla Koumiya is a French-Moroccan DJ, producer, musician and singer based in France. Her career began as a visual artist, and since 2018 she has been singing, writing, composing and producing as part of the Taxi Kebab project (Real World Records).
Now DJ and producer, Leïla Koumiya aims to build bridges on the dance floor between her musical and cultural influences, between individuals and roots. Her sets are percussive, emancipatory and hybrid, drawing on bass music, drum ‘n bass and techno, and inspired by her Arab-Amazigh roots.
She’s part of the Musique Fête collective (Nowadays Records), and is actively involved in a more diversified and politicised electronic music scene, promoting the S-H-P (Soirées à Haut Potentiel) in Nancy since 2022 through her association Rwiiina. After retiring from the Taxi Kebab project, Leïla Koumiya is focusing on DJing while preparing her future solo projects and collaborations. She is resident DJ on Radio Flouka since dec. 2023.
SAMI GALBI (MA/CH)
Sami Galbi is a Swiss, Moroccan and French musician emerging from the alternative scenes of Romandie. Sami draws on the music of his childhood, the one he rediscovered in the Cabarets of Casablanca, the Rai and the Chaâbi that he tells in his own way. With his analog machines, analog synthesizers and guitar effects, he enjoys modulating some of the North African folk music by giving them a pop texture and a club atmosphere. On stage, Sami defends «High Energy» music borrowing the codes of urban music such as Bass music and west-coast hip-hop.
